Facebook released HipHop for PHP , it’s open source, it’s awesome, more efficient and runs it fast !!  Using HipHop, the Facebook web server CPU usage has been decreased by about fifty percent!

The run time has been completely rewritten and has been optimized. The PHP code is converted to optimized C++ and is complied using g++ into native machine code. So that brings PHP the power and performance of C++.

However, HipHop won’t make your databases queries execute faster or images load faster. And, debugging can also be quite a problem, since HipHop is still in beta and there COULD be conversion errors.

With events like Hackathon, Facebook seems to be the next Google !! Also, reports say Facebook will have more unique visitors than Google by the end of 2011 or 2012. That’s nice
